How do I determine the correct polarity of my speaker?

A polarity tester can be used to check the polarity on the loudspeaker. If the diaphragm steps outwards, correct polarity has been achieved. If the diaphragm is pulled inwards, the polarity should be changed. Acoustically this is just as perceptible, the louder setting is the correct one.
