A high-pass filter is a frequency spectrum limiting filter, i.e. frequencies up to a certain peak are reproduced, frequencies beyond this point are removed. A high-pass filter is open at the top. It is used, for example, to set up tweeters or woofers/midrange drivers. It can be used to remove all low frequencies that are outside the imaging capability of the driver.
